Sump tank glass thickness?

I'm just curious.
Should sump tank glass be as thick as regular tank glass? for example.
Can i use 1/4 inch glass to make a 4x2x2 sump tank?
normally for 4x2x2 tanks, 3/8 inch is used here. but if its only a sump can 1/4th be used? since sump aren't filled 100% only a little water ?

You could probubly get away with it but I wouldn't do it personally...I've seen rep tanks used for sumps (thin glass) but theres very little reserve strength in the structure.

for 4x2x2 I would go 3/8 glass or just look arround stores and craigs list etc.... probally find a used beat up tank for dirt cheap....
