Sump tank

Hello 1st time on here because iv just bought a 211 gallon tank and am going to set it up as a marine tank and have been told I need a sump tank how big would this need to be

Need or told its a good idea to have one?? Size mostly depends on what you want to put in the sump. You could run a 30 gallon sump if you can fit everything in there that you want. If you need more space go larger. Think if your pump will sit in out out. Your plumbing, heater, Skimmer size? Filter bags are great. Bio balls or other.

i use a 120g sump tank for my 180g display tank. for marine u have to think about a space for your skimmer, heater, phosban reactor and other bio-filter media. IMO,plan what you want to put in into your sump then only decide on the size. the larger the better.
