I have a sump thats good for up to 210 (tank is 180) with a 1200 gph overflow. I bought a Danner 1800 gph pump at 4 ft it says 1100 gph. I have to restrict some of the water coming from the pump or it draind the sump. I have 3 j tubes in the over flow box. is this ok? Should I divert some of the water back to the sump or leave it alone? Next question this is a Frontosa tank so I added 30 lbs of coral to the sump is this a good method or should I put it in something? Thanks T

Put in larger 'J' tubes. otherwise yes.

No pre filter. it's really loud, should the second chamber be more full? even with the 3 j tubes It can't keep up?

No, I haven't yet tomorrow for sure. I put another "j" tube in the over flow (4 total). that seem to equal out the flow pump is all the way on and over flow is keeping up. but still noise. Do you think I could replace the (4) 1" "j" tubes with (2) 1 1/2 tubes? This is a PITA:cry:

:iagree: i would put a "crash plate" or a sponge in there or something, if you havent already.

No, just add a longish piece of pvc to the overflow and add sponges to it.

I agree. If you put extensions on the bulkheads in the overflow box, you won't have as much noies created by the water movement. This would quiet the overflow down quite a bit.

So you guys are saying extend the bulkheads 1"-2" (picture is too little to see whats going on)? What about the overflow tubes. will 1 1/2 "J" tubes work? or should I go with 2 overflow boxes. 2 "J" tubes per overflow? Thanks
