I have a 75gal tank I'll be using for my sump. My main tank is a 210gal FOWLR

The drain water will go into the 1st chamber through a 100micon filter sock. I'll have the EV-240 aquac skimmer also in there. From there the water will go into a couple of baffles to keep the micro bubbles from getting to the main tank.

Now these baffles are to be setup (I might be wrong here) an inch apart with only 1 end open on each baffle. so the water will spill over the top from the prefilter, hit a baffle, travel down to the right side, come around that baffle and into the next one. the water will travel down the to the left side of that baffle and spill over to the next chamber.

The next chamber will be the bio area filled with at least 5gals of bio balls. From there the water come under the partition into the return area.

Now in the return area, can I build a fuge?

Is this S/W or F/W?

Usually only S/W worry about micro bubbles (as the tend to linger in the denser s/w).

Baffles for the micro bubbles come last, as you want oxygen in the bio-media chamber.

The refugium should also be before the baffles for the same reason.

Make the final 'pump chamber' deep (tall?) enough so if any micro bubbles do defeat the baffles they will have a float to the surface and not directly into the pump.

This is SW.

So I should prefilter with skimmer, then bio chamber, then fuge, then baffles and then the return.

Now what will dictate the height of the water in the sump? You say to have the return chamber deep. But can that be deep if say the bios chamber is not as deep?

Thanks

Yep.

Prefiltering the skimmer is an option, kinda depends on how much you want to clean it ;).

No the 'pump' chamber can be no higher than the the rest, I just didn't want it lower than necessary.

You could also drop your intake into a fine, dense micron bag right onto your bio, which could be elevated a little with an upside down basket, to give the fuge and pump a little depth then have your refugiam, at the last leg of the baffles maybe a very open, coarse pad as insurance for a bubbleless return

That was my plan to use a micron sock at the intake. Plus I will have the skimmer in the intake chamber, then onto bio ball, then baffles, then a fuge, then the return chamber.

Hoe does that sound?
