hello would it be safe to use a 40 gallon aquan breeder tank filled to 12 to 13 inches with the top plastic brace removed. The way I want to build my sump you wont be able to get the pieces in with the top on. thanks

I have used 40 breeders for sumps, but I don't usually compartmentalize the sumps, which prevents the need to take out the brace.
I put bio-media Like rings or lava rock)in appropriate size mesh bags, and use filter socks for mechanical. There is usually plenty of room for the pump, heaters, and anything else.
I find the compartments restricting, and unnecessary.

Thank duanes for the ideas. I am doing a k1 filter so compartments are needed. And hate filter socks.
Thanks takagari i will be glue in 3 sections that arw 15 inches high as my crappy diagram shows inbthese pics. Using E6000 opinions very on E6000 but is what i am going to use. Is probauly stonger thos way then with the top brace but i am looking for every ones opinions that have tried to run rimless sumps thanks for the input. Flow thorugh water height will be 11 inches

Sizes are a little bit different in the last pick was the first draft but shows actualy how the 3 sections will be installed
