mostly the output pipe of the sump is on the upper part of the tank. just curious,what about for the lower part of the tank? how can the sump clean the debris on the substrate? sorry for the noob question.

the answer is it cant so you still have to vacume the tank

can anyone post their sump pics here? im planning to build a sump but i don't know how to build it. and if its ok. i want to copy some plans of sump here.
You can put an overflow anywhere you want. I added two overflows to the middle of my 360 tall tank. It's almost 4 feet deep and I have a canister for the lower levels and the mid level I added two 1.5" lines and the upper level I have a glass-holes overflow to skim the surface. There's pics in my 360 thread.
There's literally hundreds of sump threads here. My favorite designs are by JCardoni (spell) but they are all basically the same. Get the largest tank you can fit in your stand is the best tip I can give you if you haven’t started yet. The more water in your whole system the better.
