hi, i just bought a 95 gallon aquarium with built in overflow and 20-25 gallon acrylic sump but the sump doesn't have any baffles just a holder for a media bag and a place to put a bag of carbon, any ideas?
A sump doesn't need to have any baffles per say. All it needs to do is hold media. Post some pictures of the actual sump and I can help you out more.
Seatch for king of diy and look at his sump series. Here is one in particular MANY of us use. But for me to help you I need to see pictures so you can get the most out of the system.
it says the file is too large for the server too process
but Im going to buy some media and filter floss for it and see if that works and buy some egg crate plastic and needlepoint plastic
I would highly recommend a filter sock or two, and some bio-media in a nylon laundry bag. Look at my build thread, search my posts on this whole subject, etc. This comes up a lot.
The link above is to another build thread with LOTS of pics. The sump design is very simple and it works very well even for very large tanks. No baffles at all, don't need 'em.
My 540's been up almost 2 years. Just Vieja, occasional Amph. All cichlids. You can see it here, how the fish have grown, the tank has changed very little since I set it up and got it to clear up. I started taking pics, but now I just put video up--much easier.
