Could you use a powerhead to power the output and input of a sump instead of relying on gravity or one of those hang on the back siphon things?

Unless the sump is overhead you can not run a pump to run water to your sump. You would need to have a two pumps precisely set at a specific gph to match the decreased head flow from the return, in short no just drill the tank it’s not going to work
