Does anyone keep sun cats with any other cats that are smaller? I have three in a 125 gal, and I was wondering if it's safe to add a large school of corys or a few syno or pictus. My suns are all about 8 in long.

i kept 2 suncats with 3 green cory cats. the suncats were about 5 or 6 inches long and they were all fine living together. suncats eat like pigs though lol. corys would pick up the leftovers.

I had tried one of my syno's from another tank, but the syno was the problem. It kept trying to fight the suns.

If this would be all that's in the tank (plus the sun cat(s) ) then try a bullhead species.

I have two gold severums in there, also. Just the sev's and the three sun's right now. I'm thinking I may move the sun's into my 180 gal, I only have two bristle nose pleco's and that one syno in there as far as bottom dwellers. I'm still planning my stocking in that one, too.

my 12 inch suncat eats big 1.5 inch mussels whole so its capable, you know what they say 'never trust a catfish'... always gonna be a risk just whether you want to risk it. mine has grown from 8 to 12 inch in 18 months!

I've had my suns now almost 15 months, I bought them at 2.5 inches long. The smallest one is right at 8 inches now, and the other two are almost 9.

Suns are not too predatory, esp. if well fed. Cories are a hard meal with their real sharp spines. It stands a chance to work. I'd not risk it though. Consider something that will not fit the suns mouth, like a nice school of Pimelodus pictus.
