Sunfish Community Tank?

I have this aquarium with a footprint of 48x30 and a height of 18 inches. It currently is inhabited by one pumpkinseed sunfish that is a bit more than 5 inches long. My question is; how do I add more sunfish without them killing each other? How many more fish should I add? Any general advice for someone who has never housed multiple aggressive fish in the same tank? All responses are greatly appreciated.

Sunfish aggression is variable but it all depends on your setup. Imo ive had more success keeping sunfish in uneven groups to dispel aggression. Can you post a pic of your setup so I can see what your working with? And also any equipment (filters,lighting, etc) you have running.
