Hey guys, i'm from Saskatchewan and looking to catch some sunfish, or crappie (not sure we even have them this far north). in Saskatchewan we only have two or three lakes down south that have rock bass, and one that has LMB -.-, im wondering if anyone has any info on where i could catch some sunfish (besides LMB) maybe bluegil or pumkinseed for my first time.
i dont mind driving 5hours to get some good camping and fishing in. its hard to catch different varieties of fish here, and i've heard Manitoba has some sunfish (im not too sure about alberta) but im really interested in finding a lake or two. its very hard to find info on the internet and I'm not driving hours to fish at a lake i have no clue whats in it. thanks alot guys!!

ive never heard of any natural crappie lakes in alberta. Doesnt mean there arent any though. If there are im guessing they are fairly south

yeah thats what i thought, i had heard though that there are pumkinseed and bluegil in manitoba, im very curious if Alberta has any since its a closer drive for me. im hoping to catch some rock bass for my first time ha its a five hour drive south but they look so cool i gotta catch one haha

I know that there are some in Manitoba.

i am actually surprised to read that canada doesnt have many sunfish since they are so abundant here.

What all do you guys have up there? I can think of musky, pike, walleye and perch and probably trout and salmon?

I do know that longear sunfish live in Canada but I don't know which one.

yeah i heard that aswell. i was hoping there was more information on it but fishing manitoba has no records of fish caught at certain lakes, quite disapointing.

we have alot of Northern pike, Walleye, Yellow perch. thats the most common 3 species. we get alot of white suckers, whitefish, burbot. the amount of fish species we have is alot lower then in the states but the size of the fish and amount of them makes it amazing fishing up here (interesting read from the government of saskatchewan on the types of fish here: http://www.swa.ca/Publications/Documents/FishSpeciesOfSaskatchewan.pdf)
