Sunfish ID

But in Ohio and also in Minnesota, they are very common.....and yeah it is Orangespotted Sunfish, they dont get big, usually 2-3 inches long but we did captured a 6 inches long Orangespotted sunfish out of the trap nets at the job.

Ok thanks. This is probably the 4th one I've caught. I get most of them in a cast net.

I'd take the crayfish out if the fish is that small...I've had seemingly too small crayfish eat fish much larger than themselves.

I've had small fishes killed much larger crayfish after it has molted. The sunfish should be fine with a crayfish assuming that crayfish isn't mature sized.
 
Crayfish is 1.5" long. Haven't had a problem with this guy. He was houses in the same ten with 20 guppies for about three months before the guppies were moved. Never had a problem with him. They should be fine. This orange spotted sunfish will likely be moved to my 1400 gallon outdoor pond were I have tons of blunt nose minnows as cray fish. Along with lily pads and rock work to hide in. He should be fine in there until I put in my channel cat which I'm growing out in my 75.
