Sunfish I'd

Can anyone help me out and tell me what this sunfish is? I caught it in a lake in upstate New York.

Would Hikary Cichlid bio gold plus be a good staple food for him/her?

That's what I feed my sunfish 95% of the time and they've grown quickly since I got them on pellets. I do give them fish, worms and crawdads occasionally too

I'm currently "starving" him so he'll take it. So far no luck haha

So since this post he hasn't ate anything I've tried to feed him. I've tried worms, minnows. Flake food. Freeze dried bloodworms. Pellets. Algae wafers. But he hasn't shown any interest in anything. I feel like soon he will parish, and I'd hate to have him expire. Could anyone help me try and get him to eat?

try live blackworms, brine shrimp or small guppies. Cool looking fish.
