So Im sitting at my tank checking it out. When I notice my pumpkinseed acting funny. He's flaring his gills a little at the other bluegills and his colors get more vibrant and so does which ever fish he gets next to. Then they half way turn sideways for maybe a sec or 2 but thats it. So Im assuming that their trying to mate its just they arent compatible by size yet. Anyone know for certain if this is mating ritual or just a territorial thing. I have been adding plants to my tank so the landscape changes every few weeks.

Anyone have an idea? Ive bred bettas before and they tend to act like this so Im assuming they are but then again...Ive never kept sunfish either.
