I bought a couple central longear sunfish in June to add to my large community tank. Both ate well in qt and acted normally. After a month I introduced the larger one into the display tank. I noticed I could see the red of the other ones gills. It looks like the gill plates didn't fully develop. I've had him now for 7 months in quarantine and he eats fine and is otherwise normal. At first I was worried it was some sort of parasite or something that could have caused the hill plate abnormality so I didn't put him in the tank. I would like to free up the qt and he's outgrowing it anyway. Other than the potential for him to be injured if he's bitten in the gill would you be hesitant to add him to the main tank? Here's a crapoy pic. image.jpeg

if hes survived this long with that deformed gill plate i think hell be fine... ive had a couple deformed tiger shovelnose cats just like this missing half or the entire gill plate that thrived in a community tank setting.
