i have a fish tank setup next to the window, i was wondering if its better to leave the fist tank lights off and use the sunlight as there light source??? i was just curious because i do this from time to time.......

it will only help if you have plants otherwise algea will love it

I have a semi-planted tank that recieves constant daylight and the algae that grows is hard to clean off, fluffy, and dark green. Not so pleasent. If you look at a tank that's getting loads of sunlight without the tank lights on, the colours are appauling.

also, in the summer it raise your temp on the tank.. so just watch and make sure you dont boil your fish.

if the tank was meant for algea its a great idea

i have a tank by a window and i NEVER get algae... which had kept me very puzzled for a long time... hmmmmmmmmmmmm

My tank beside the window always gets cloudy even with blinds close.
