Does any one know why it seems the price of sunshine plecos went up? Are they becoming harder to find or are they gaining popularity which is driving up the price. Saw one at the lfs for 250 dollars but it was ten inches.

160-250 is normal for one at 10"+

I've purchased 5 in the last few years from 10" to 12" and paid from $175 - $250. I'm surprised they are that cheap considering what I have to pay for big L25, L273, LDA105 etc. Just be thankful they are not as popular in Asia.

Why are they that expensive though? Are they hard to come by because they seem readily available at my lfs. Ive bought royals snowballs nuggets magnums had three vampires and a candy stripe which were cheaper but these seem to be top of the list.

You don't see them as often as other plecos. However, shipping + custom and other expenses increase the price of the fish, with a 10"+ goldie pleco they usually ship 1 or 2 in a box.
