SunSun 304 grease?

Its just a little lube that was put on the o-ring to keep it from getting ruined. It is fine. Mine had the same thing, and I use vasoline or silicon grease (whatever I have available) to lube it up again before I put it back together.
Silicon grease is safe. It also helps with a better, air tight seal. Its a good idea to relube at least once a year. You can buy silicon grease at stores where they sell drinking water filtration supplies.
I got my silicon grease on Amazon. It was about $14 for a little 2oz tube.
I actually just set my SunSun 303B back up this morning because my 29 gallon grow out tank is pretty heavily stocked at the moment. I used the silicon grease on all the o-rings and on the pump impeller and shaft. Worked great for me.
