Sunsun 304 vs CFS 500

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the sunsun 304 has a build in UV bulb and the media trays are more customizable in terms of types of media, yet I have read about a few problems with the fitting of parts and of course the GPH flow rating is actually about half of what they say it is. It also uses more energy.

the cfs 500 had some issues with the valve fittings being too tight, users would sometimes break the canister cover trying to attach the valves. the media included is just different types of foam and the bottom of the tank does not have efficient flow to it. however it works very well with what it has, it is easier to maintain and clean, and is quieter of the two.

I have the cfs 500 now for almost a year I believe and Im very happy. I am running it on a 55 gallon tank. I also recently purchaced the sunsun filter and im quite happy with it. no problems for me. however the surface skimmer attachment on the intake tube is too low. so I had to improvise, set the tube as high as possible, cut my tank canopy a bit.

what are you looking to use it with?

if you dont have green water problems Id skip the sunsun filter and go for the cfs 500.
