So there's a super dead (like for four years) white oak in my front yard, and I managed to trim off a pretty nice branch. It's too big for my oven or a pot though.

Assuming I could sterilize it somehow, would this branch be tank safe? We don't spray with pesticides or anything like that.

What would a power sprayer do?

Remove anything harmful they may have landed on branch from being out in the elements . Even a good spraying from a regular garden hose will suffice. :) there may be residue on the branch that can't be picked up with the naked eye.

Could I rub it down with a mild bleach/water solution? Or would it soak into the wood and kill everything I love? XD

Just soak it in the bathtub with only hot water from the faucet, let it soak for 2-3 hours then drain the tub and repeat again. Then it'll be fine... There's no reason to use a bleach solution, or boil water for it as most bath/shower faucets get hot enough to kill off any insects, or parasites. I've never once used boiling water on any of the driftwood I've collected, I just soak it in the bathtub with regular hot faucet water and repeat, then after a couple of hours it's fine.

I've been in this hobby for over 24 years, and have never had any problems from doing it this way... No fish have died, haven't had anything survive this treatment, and everything has been perfectly fine by doing this way...
