I got a nice 45g corner tank with stand, filter, the whole setup. It had two BIG tinfoil barbs which could barely go in a circle--and a pair of convicts which the guy told me would attack the barbs whenever they spawned. It was sad. I moved the fish to a 135 and they are doing well. The barbs have plenty of room, and the convicts have already spawned. Plenty of room for them to defend their young, and the barbs can swim freely.

So now someone close to me wants the 45g in her house. But she has no knowledge of aquariums, and she has a disability which would make it hard for her to do water changes. She is another town, so I couldn't service it for her.

The filter is big for the tank size.

What should I set her up with? It might have to go months without a water change. She can top it off and scrub the glass.

I was thinking a couple of fancy goldfish and a few white cloud minnows with an automatic feeder...what do you think? Any and all suggestions welcome.

definatly no goldfish of any kind. their huge waste producers and are extremely messy eaters.

if the person is able to scrub the glass, why can you not set them up with a python to take water out?? even if they cant siphon the gravel, they should be able to get a hose into the tank a few inches to drain and fill clean water i would imagine. even if you leave small hose always in the tank, and just make a small screw connection for it lower down where it can be reached easier to connect to then.

theres really no fish that could go months with no water change, unless maybe you put 2 neon tetras in that 45g.
