I have a standard 6-ft 125 that I want to become my "super hap" tank. I'm at 15 fish now and they are half grown. I'm moving my smaller haps to a 90 gallon eventually but the 125 I plan on leaving in the following:
1. Aristochromis christyi (Malawi Hawk)
2. Buccochromis nototaenia
3. Nimbochromis venustus (Giraffe Cichlid)
4. Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus (Fusco)
5. Placidochromis milomo (VC-10)
6. Tyrannochromis macrostoma
7. Dimidiochromis kiwinge
8. Exochochromis anagenys
I have heard from some other folks on other forums and talked to a few experts on big haps and they think it will work fine to keep these fish in this tank long term. I cannot upgrade and that is out of the question. The tank is filtered with a Rena XP4, 2-AC 500s, and a HOT Magnum. I do two, 50% or more water changes each week now.
