I need a good air pump that is quiet. Right now I have something made by Hagen and it sounds like a lawnmower in my living room. I need something extremely quiet
While I havent used an air pump in ages. I can recommened that make sure that the air stone etc. is not too small and that the line you are using is as short as possible because that too, will make your pump louder because it has to work harder to push out the air flow. You know what I am saying?
I had a 2 valve output one and I used a "T" to push one air stone and it was very loud. Once I opened the flow to 2 hoses it was much more quiet.
4th on the Tetra, Just bought the 100 with 2 outlets for hoses... It's great and it's also very quiet. And if you don't need a large one, get the Whisper 10, I've had mine for like two years and it's still going strong and it's really quiet, like you have to put your ear within a foot of it to hear if it's on or not.
It's funny that so many of you recommend Whisper air pumps.
I got two of the 100 Whisper's for Christmas for my 300 gallon tank and I cant stand either of them.
They are both so loud I cant stand it.
I replaced the hose and fittings as well as the air disks because I thought
mabey some force was causing the noise.
But no less, they both sound the same. Almost sounds like a transformer
on a light pole.
