Okay... I went to the LFS and purchased two SUPER RED SEVERUMS. Can someone please tell me more about them? I tried to do some research before my purchase, but couldnt find much.

Would like to know:
1. Fertility---are they? Which gender has a higher rate of fertility?
2. growth rates--- fast slow? Whats a common growth rate?
3. Breeding--- How do most males look like? Females? Also if I bred a female SRS with a male SRS, would I get all SRS fry? What if I cross a SRS male to a gold female?
4. Some say these are hybrids, some say they are line bred. Wheres the research on them?

Thanks all!

never heard of them atall! probably a sales scam. probably just the classic red severum??

i know they are fairly slow growers, get pics and we can fully ID

how mcuh were they? i know there are red severums dont know about SUPER red severums. red severums are beautiful a few people here have them . i guess tehy will hvae they same needs as severums. So slow growers, noteasy to breed but not the hardest but they will need to be big already before they start breeding. 1" baby will get to about 4-5" in 2 years.

Never heard of them....

I just picked myself up a Wild Caught red headed severum in Miami.
Is that what your talking about? A red head?

Nope, Super reds are real. (another colour morph of the gold)

Not to my tastes, but im a grumpy old man who likes what he knows :D

Not sterile.

Growth rate the same as a normal gold (get a little bigger then the greens, alot rounder) should take about 2 years to get to between 6" and 8"

Males have more worm markings (if thats possible) longer fins, will develop a slight hump. all the usual sev traits.

Heres the fun part.

Breed red to red = Red fry.

Breed gold to red = washed out red fry (basically diluting the gene pool)

Breed Green to red OR Gold = all green fry.

All comes down to dominance within the genes.

Think of it as brunettes breeding with gingers, kids will almost always be brunette due to the dominant genes.

My tuppence.

LoL. I forgot about those. They have a couple of them down at my LFS that are like an inch. Oops. lol. I wish I could find one that was nice sized. I'd pick it up in a heart beat.
