Anyone have any good information on Super Red Severums. Like how fast they grow, how aggressive are they, would it be better to get two or three, how to sex them? Looking to add some color to my tank
For practical purposes they grow and behave like regular domestic sevs. Sexing them could be a little tricky because both males and females are very colorful, but the general rule of looking at facial markings still applies (not as distinct in females). If all else fails, there's venting...
Here are some pics of a friend's pair. The smaller one is the female (yes, she laid eggs).

I have never own any type of severums before, so I am in the dark on this fish. How fast do they grow, would it be worth me buying a few at 3 inches and waiting for them to grow or would they take to long to grow to about 6 inches. What do you typically feed them, wil lthey eat massivore pellets or feeders? Would you friend consider selling that pair?? Just thought I'd ask. Willing to pay top dollar..
They grow pretty fast given a good diet and good water quality. I feed all my sevs pellets, market shrimp, algae wafers, night crawlers, 2 different flakes from Kens, Black worms, spinach, romaine, Zucchini and Krill pellets. As juvies I feed more protein and less vegetable matter. Id say an inch a month +/- in my tanks due to wc's and varied diet. Once they it 6" or so they slowed down and bulked up.
