Picked up a 14" male dovii two weeks ago. He's WC but was acquired from Rapps at a few inches. He was raised for the past year in s 1000 gallon pond until I brought him home and dropped him in a tank. Since then he hasn't eaten and is very skittish, hiding behind drift wood. He settles in a little until I do a WC and then gets all scared again! Has sny one ever experienced this? I want an interactive glass banger.

Because he was pond raised he will always be skiddish to an extent mabye in a years time or so he will become more interactive but the only thing you can really do is stay in front of the glass for as long as you can and create movement around the tank so he gets used to it

Lol. Not into breeding
Your not trying to breed him just help him feel safe lol you can pull the female later. Also if your really not into breeding your missing a huge part of the hobby.

I have successfully bred many cichlids in the past. Probably 20 different species. I don't enjoy the nipped fins and other damage to both fish. I really want single specimen, glass banging show fish. He did however come to the front of the tank this morning when I turned the lights on before he hid behind his drift wood!! Progress

Give him some time. The fact that he was wild caught and then raised in a pond means he's going to take time to acclimate to a glass tank in a room. I think he'll come around sooner rather than later for you.
