I’ve recently got a new gold gene Thai silk flowerhorn on eBay. Once it arrived he/or she was fine until I noticed that the fish was getting very shy, is this a female trait of a flowerhorn or to accumulate to the tank. My flowerhorn lives in a 55 gallon tank. My flowerhorn is about 1.54 inches in length. And I have a sail fin Pleco that is about 4 inches, my flowerhorn does bother the pleco a little.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Please give me any advice.
Happy new year every one. And finally, Thank you!

Your fish is very young and has just been through a very stressful week or two of life moving around, changing tanks, etc. -- give it some time (and keep good water parameters & temperature) and it should become more interactive.

Also plecos are always 50/50 with FH, some FH will leave them alone, some will keep attacking and at worse kill and eat the pleco, which could in turn kill the FH. The pleco is quite a big bigger than the FH, but she/he will grow quickly so monitor the situation closely and be prepared to re-home the pleco if necessary.

Good luck!

Btw, I forgot to mention that adding a bit of aquarium salt to your tank (about 1 tsp. per 20 gallons) will usually help a stressed out fish to relax more and help with their osmoregulation.

Oops, was in a hurry and messed up recommended wrong salt dosage: should be about 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons (~20 liters).
