So the biggest pleco Listed on the species profile is 24'' but 2nd page of photos has a 3 footer from oddball So I was wondering First whats the biggest a common gets is it 18 to 19 inches?

I've seen big ones at Alexander springs In FL looked like commons at about 2 1/2 to 3 foot from my canoe anyway.

Then whats the biggest overall pleco max ?

oh my gosh

if u forget to feed that thing....all ur fishes are DEAD. and those spikes on it's pectorals.....damn. that would be the worst pleco to piss off.

I've heard of royals that are 2 feet or more. I've also heard of people picking up monster plecos, and you know that spike that comes out of both sides of some...or all plecos, like a catfish. when u touch it, it will poke straight out sidewaqys. yeah, well that thing on a huge pleco went into this guys hand...

Well this is my common pleco, he isd about 18/19 inchs, and I rescued him from a small tank, so I'm sure he would have gotten even bigger had I had him from young.

Though toi be fair he is still growing, just really slowly now, he has to be pretty old, I have had him maybe 8 years or so.

In regards to the Adonis:

A single adult male can easily be the most dominant fish in a 1000 gallon aquarium with other large neotropical fish, and other catfish housed with one need to be robust. There should be ample refuges for all the catfish, as when this fish decides to take one over it will regardless of whether the rightful owner is present or not. Care should probably be taken not to house them with other highly competitive loricariids such as Pseudacanthicus etc., as this is likely to result in serious injuries or death to one or both fish.

One specimen was observed to have killed a very large P. gibbiceps by stripping the skin from the fish when it tried to escape into a refuge that was too small.

Impressive fish. I'd love to see one in person.

p.s. Species profile std. length 39.4".
