I went to petsmart and i bought superworms outa the fridge.. well i got home and opened them thinking they were just like black worms or blood worms or some type of earth worm... well they turned out to be meal worms with the lil pinchers on there head and what not...
is it still safe to feed the worms to my fish? i dont want them dieing on me :(

p.s all my fish are eating healthy now!!!! waho for natives getting used to the tank in 2 days!

I went to Petsmart 3 months ago and bought some f those. None of my fish would eat them. My gar and aro went up to it then swam away, they dont sink either. My puffer started to eat one then spot it out so I wouldnt waste alot of money on the worms unless your sure your fish will eat them. Some people on here have luck with them, but 10 of my fish wont eat them.

Only thing that will eat it is the crayfish that hides all the time and my fish cant eat him lol...

the suck imho.. ill try them when i get my knife fish but outherwise waiste of money!!

ok this guy at petsmart just gave me a lexture over the superworms he said before you feed them to your fish frogs ect...., anything thats going to swallow them whole, u need to tear the heads off, he said they can start chewing out the lining of the stomach and kill whatever swallowed it, he said that they catch them chwing holes in the top of there containers all the time, this may be why your fish arent eatimng them

BEWARE OOF THE SUPERWORM!

whaaaaaaaaaaa???? not sure if your sarcastic or not.

thats not true anyways, however you dont want to feed larger meal worms to small fish (i.e Baby arowana), they may have trouble digesting the exo skeleton.

and meal worms will not do that once eaten.

another petsmart employee with his head up his ass.

wax worms are what you should try they are very soft, and i know bluegills love them. i got 60 some bluegills in 2 days with them.

Thats kind of an "old wives tale" sort of thing. One person heres it and they think its true, so they start telling everyone that. Its not true at all, Ive fed mealworms to some of my fish (many fish dont like them for some reason), salamanders, frogs, toads, and a box turtle, and Ive never had a problem.

Superworms is excellent food... all my fish pretty much love them! Plenty of protein, and pumps up your fish! Don't feed LRG. size superworms to small juvie fish, which may have a hard time digesting it... but doesn't mean that you can't feed to youngins. Just give them time afterwards to fasten and fully digest before feeding again. It is best to feed a varied diet anyways!

To me, the only drawback with superworms is after a couple days of feeding... i usually have to net out and/or clean the (HOB) filters/strainers/cartridges of the shelled feces remains! :irked:

ok well he dident say it about fish, and ive never fed them, but i was needing some big worms for my pacman and thats when he sed it could be harmfull to my frog, but he did show me the holes were the superworms begin to carve threw there containers
