Super worms.

I'm not sure if I would believe this. You know how many people feed superworms exclusively to their reptiles. Tons of people do. Now if it's only toxic to aro's then idk about that, but otherwise reptiles would be dying left and right.

I know that feeding mealworms to reptiles you have to chop the head off...as they could potentially damage the reptiles insides....

But I have never heard of them being toxic.

I've fed super (and meal and red wiggler) worms to fish for years... no toxicity...no boring through the sides of fish...

These wives tales get repeated and repeated...with basis in fact.

Fed my Silver Aro super & meal worms for years. Got him when he was 6" and raised him till 22" before selling. Wouldn't use them as a main staple but here and there should be ok.

Super worms really arnt a good choice of food for your animals. Ive kept reptiles for 5 years and although i tried using both meal and super woms as a feeder i ended up sticking with crickets for a few reasons-

1. high fat content.
2. tough exoskeleton of the mealworm and superworms can be difficult to digest and impactions of the gut from undigested skins is not uncommon in reptiles and i suspect the same could happen in fish.

It for these reason as well as the fact that some reptiles simply dont care for them that most reptile keepers use crickets exclusively.

Most people feed out dehydrated and starving pet shop crickets exclusively because they do not know any better and crickets are cheap. In order for the cricket to be useful you've got to feed them well, then dust them. Not too many people do this for their pets food.
