Is it safe? Would you recommend it?
I've been feeding pellets and superworms to my flowerhorns for 3 days now (I only fed them pellets before, and live fishes occasionally) and one fh died today. I'm not sure if he died because I fed him too much SW. Someone told me SW causes highblood. Is that true?

I have heard super worms are very fatty. But the blame might fall on your feeder fish.

Yep they are very fatty.. one of the fattiest foods you can possibly feed. I dont think that its necessarily the feeders that killed him though. I've fed the occasional feeders throughout years and I haven't lost a fish yet. I think it was the super worms that made the fish obese leading to stress which let to a infection of some sort from the feeders. So I guess you can say that the feeders "did" kill him haha

I don't think his fish became obese in 3 days but we don't know how old or long he has had these fish. A few more details on the behavior and age size and so on will help.

lol me < reading the whole thread
I just skimmed the post haha missed the three days part.

No telling with any certainty what killed your fish, but I would personally avoid feeding superworms & feeders to flowerhorns. FH as a whole are genetically weak, and many strains can be prone to pathogenic bacteria problems as well as gastrointestinal issues such as hexamita.

Occasional super worms should be ok... They are fatty as the others stated, but also can be hard to digest as well (the chitin in their heads and legs can lead to impact ion) If you want to feed worms, earthworms do just great....Good protein, easy to digest.
