hi

i have thinking about support my floor when i get a bigger tank and lucky for me i can get under the floor a little bit and that little bit is were the tank can go. anyway my qestion were can i buy the jack in the uk (it need to be 8ft tall)and when i do it iam thinking about using 2x6 so doesn the 2x6 need to be on the joist or will it be alright on the ceiling. thanks njackson.

i'm not sure what jack you are talking about. but if you have access to the joists under the floor you want the tank, what you could do is add more joists under the floor to help disperse the weight under it. this would work better than trying to jack the floor up.

i can only access 2ft under the floor and i can't see the joist, i can only see the ceiling.

this is what iam talking about.

That's pretty much what The1and only linked you to.

The idea is that you put the jack on the ground, and then insert a 4x4 or 6x6 piece of lumber (cut to your desired length, i.e. ~8 ft) into the jack vertically.

If you use the 6x6 jack, with a piece of lumber cut so that the whole assembly totals 8', the safe working load is 30,000 lbs.
