HI , I'm getting a metal stand made for my 125gallon I will be getting, I was wondering if I should put plywood on top of the stand and then the tank on top of that , or should I just put the tank on the stand and forget the plywood?

Thanks to all that reply

I'm overly cautious, I'd use a peice of plywood under the tank plus a peice of 1/2" styrofoam on top of the plywood in case of any minor inconsistencies. I'm a little leary of metal stands for tanks that big but I know a lot of people use them.

can anyone tell me what are some risks with using metal stands?

Its hard to weld steel and get it dead level on the top. I put a bead of liquid nails on the steel, then a sheet of 15mm ply, then 12mm poly and then the tank. The liquid nails will absorb any unevenness between the ply and the steel. If you're going to load the tank up with rocks you'll need pretty thick ply for it to do anything, and/or metal supports close together across the top.

if u happen to have a sheetrock square check the stand by that. if u don't buy brand new marbles or bb's and they should give u a good idea if it's straight or not. the aquarium is very sturdy though. my buddy has a 150 that has a gap in the center. been like that for 5 yrs and hasn't leakd or nething so i don't think it really matters.
