Hey guys. A surprise Jack Dempsey showed up at my house today after another fishkeeper's tank burst. He seems to be doing okay in my mixed CA/SA 300 gallon tank, but I have never really kept them before because I always felt that they were too shy. He's somewhere between 8-9" long, and I've put in a 10" pot for him to hide in, just in case the other inhabitants give him any grief. I don't know that much about the different breeds and varieties, though, and I was wondering if there was anything special going on with him? I am surprised at his wonderful color, he may yet have some things to teach me about his kind!
They are quite shiny! A lot of the ones I have seen before in stores in the 5-6" range weren't nearly this nice looking.
