Hi MFK

I have this problem in my tank now. I have a Sail Fin pleco which is the common pleco i guess.

Whenever i throw algae wafers into my tank, my pbass and dats keep eating them. I tried putting carrots and cucumbers in put he dose not eat them.

Thanks for your help guys!

It's not easy to feed when you have never ending stomachs swimming above who will eat from all levels.

You can try feeding the PBass and Dats first and spot feed the pleco at the same time. Feed the PBass and Dats at one end and feed the plec at the other. That plec will also eat any foods you feed the PBass and Dats. Depending on age and size of the plec it might not touch much veggie matter anymore. I would try some frozen peas see if that is eaten by the plec. Most likely the PBass and Dats won't touch them.

You can try sticking the wafers in some softened zuchinni; hopefully the other fish won't be attracted to eating them.

Maybe get a log/cave that the pleco will swim in to to eat. Put the food in the log/cave, either by hand, using long tongs, or "python" extension tube.

Yes load the zuchini with a good pellet such as NLS. The p bass and dats will not be interested in the veggie at all.

Still see you are hooked to plecos.

Drop a cutted cucumber, your plecos will enjoy it.

In my experience it took my plecs a couple of trys to realize that the veggies were actually food, so just keep at it

you can also use a riser tube for an undergravel filter to get the wafer to the bottom with out the pbass eating them. They will have no intrest if it's not moving. I use this with my Pbass and pleco and it works.
