whats an affordable combo for fishing small sharks, rays and other decent sized fish from the shore? Ive seen some big spinners at dicks but didnt get to talk to anyone at the store yet about that one. Think it was a Penn.

depends on how far u gota cast and whats small, im just guessing here but i think around 13 ft and not too stiff penn are good make but nothing wrong with cheep reels say ur castin 8oz lead and good size bait then 50lb shock leader with 15lb main line if sppol is deep half fill it with old line or even tape,
When I surf In say Pismo beach and such, you see little 3 foot threshers and rays around, then lots of other smaller fish, just would like to surf the shores for stuff like that.

for sure there is always ppl sellin fishing gear scan the small adds also e bay might be a place to look, do ye have jumble sales,or car boot sales there great places to pic up cheep fishing gear..
Now even more than before, I want to go to Ireland but now mainly to see a jumble sale and car boot sale.
