there is a layer of stuff on the top of the water in my reef. it looks like oil would if it were in the water. its not a thick layer like oil but it is deff not a good thing. how does one get rid of it.
 
Your skimmer should pick it up but it wont if it can't reach it. :naughty:

You have to have some good surface aggitation like a aquaclear on the back to get the surface to mix with the rest of the tank and then your skimmer will pick it up.
