im in need of some ideas to make a suface skimmer to add to my overflows on my tank.

my tank is about 350 gal it has 2 overflows in the form of ridged pipes comeing from the base in the back of eack corner. at the top of these i have durso standpipe setups as it is very quiet compaird to what it was before.

problem is now i have no surface skimming at all and the dreded oily film from heavey feeding if building up over time. i keep removeing the durso tops to allow the surface to be sucked down into the sump but only while i drain the tank into the sump before a waterchange and it isnt enough.

i need a perminent quiet solution ive been thinking of building an add on to the top of my pipes to turn them into a type of wier over flow by adding a box around the derso, but i would like other ideas
cheers.

How abouy putting the foam from a air driven filter in place of the top, will that still be too noisey. Or some modification there of..cut slots in the cap and put the foam around it?

lol, stuttering - can happen any of us at the best of times.

im trying to figure out my surface skimmer component of my sunsun canister filter at the moment, it always takes in air with it - which is so annoying, im thinking i need to cut the slots in it deeper to encourage more water to flow in and down??? any ideas
