are surface skimmers worth it?
I have been reading up on them and they sound like the best solution for my surface film problem. Surface film is mostly due to excessive organics if I understand correctly. Please correct me if I am misunderstood. I tried my luck at a bag of purigen in my magnum 350 and that made a noticable difference, but I dont want to try recharging it because I dont feel comfortable adding any kind of buffers/softners into my water. The setup is a 72g non-planted freshwater with 750gph filtration and a few african cichlids.
How easy are the in tank skimmers to hook up to a canister line?
How effective are they at removing surface film?
Anything special I should look for in a skimmer?
Thank you all
