I purchased a bag of ghost shrimp to feed my loaches, angels and black ghost knife and this was in the bag. When I asked the guy in the store he was unsure, and said it was just in with the shrimp. If this is a 2 inch preditor then it must go. So far it seems to stay on the bottom and doesen't appear to be agressive......although other than the shrimp, it's the smallest fish in the tank. It's only a juvenille, but can anyone tell what it is?

Can you take some more pics? Looks native. If I were you I would have quarantined....but too late now.

Good luck with it!

Definitely a darter, possibly a swamp darter. They're awesome little natives! It won't bother anyone in the tank. Definitely worth keeping.

Thanks Death Pony, it appears to be an adult swamp darter. I haven't seen it since yesterday, hopefully just hiding. It's possible my BGK has eaten him, but with a new assortment of shrimp, hopefully the darter wasn't as tempting. If it appears I'll try to get more pictures. Thanks again.

im saying it is a type of darter
