Survival in unfiltered tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This question boils down to ethics unfortunately. You'll do better with frequent water changes and then connecting a sponge to the airpump to work as dual filtration and aeration.

what size tank?

depends on a lot of factors....why?

You should try and let us know... :)
I just recently bought around 2 dozen of minnows from Fleet Farm and putted them into a 5 gallon bucket...I change their water every day with the water from my 180 gallon...they seem to be doing alright and I'm beefing them up with some flakes and pellets...
BTW they are for my PB, since they won't take anything but live....:irked:

how many goldfish exactly?

the tank is a 15gal and the air pump is heavy
Aeration is fine but filtration is still an issue. An unfiltered tank requires regular monitoring of water parameters and water changes especially with poo machines such as goldfish. Do you plan to do this?

yeah daily water changes sound like a must

the one to two inch goldfish (5) are also feeder fish for my gar. im using this method until i can get a free filter from my friend...i feed them very lightly due to the non-filtration but what should a good schedule for water changes be?
