Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?

I just recently received a Pleco and it has some odd looking poop - just wondering if this might be an internal parasite or just regular old poop

What have you fed recently? Any changes in behavior/appetite?

I believe it was fed wafers but it was in a tank with an arowana and feeder fish so anything’s a possibility. Still seems interested in food

Probably best to treat as a precaution. Of course if this fish has it, others may too.
Do you quarantine/breed your own feeders?

I try to avoid fish poo diagnoses and I'm not doing it here, but imo (based on decades of experience with my own fish) a lot of what I see people worry over looks benign and in the range of typical variation, depending on what and how often you feed. If we obsessed over our own as much as some do their fish, half of of us would be at the doctor's several times a year.

Imo frequently medicating over phantom poo issues can do as much harm as good. Some issues are as much overfeeding as anything else, some are what you feed... etc. For example, below is a vet's article on the typically benign "stringy, white poo" some freak out over, often getting dire diagnoses of parasites and advice on what meds to use.

But again, these are just general comments, not meant as a diagnosis. Take it as you like, this is my experience and I'm just putting it out there.
