I have lived a mile away from the Suwannee river for 3 years and hve never been fishing there I am wondering if anyone has any experience fishing there and also what fish can I expect to catch.

If I am not mistaking, there are 2 species of black bass that are indigenous to that river system (suwannee bass and red eye bass). Driven past it numerous times. Very pretty scenery.

thanks I 'm proud of it it was also my first time fishing for catfish I usually fish for sunfish, black bass, and deep sea so it was a nice change of pace.

Better look out or you'll turn into a regular catfisher!!! Are you fishing from the bank? Try to throw behind the boulders for the bass over there.

Is this one of the rivers that flatheads have managed to find their way into? If so thats what I would be doing!

Yeah I fish off the shore but right now it seems to be pretty hard to fish as the river is about 15 foot below normal and there also seems to be a huge algae bloom so as soon as I cast a line I catch 20 pound of algae.

I always stop in Live Oak on my way to the inlaws in Kissimmee. I live in between Destin and Pensacola.

The Suwannee Bass is one fish Ive always wanted to catch. I have an article in a Florida Sportsmen detailing the river and the fish. You need to find some swift water and fish in the begging and end of the pool before and after the rapids. Very similar to the small mouth bass fishing I did in the rocky streams in the hills of Kentucky. I would throw a tube jig in a pumpkin seed color and a bandit rootbeer/chart crank bait.
