Sveni Tankmates

Hello. I've had a shoal of geophagus sveni in my 96x30x24 tall, 300 for about 3 years. I started off with 10 and have 7 left. I'm looking for good tank mates. I had angels with them and there were fine aggressive wise but ended up not lasting. I have a bunch of qt'd rummynose I'd like to try but I fear they'd be lunch. I'm also thinking about ordering some large discus. I'm open to ideas.

Possibly a higher bodied Tetra like the Columbian Blue Tetra.

I agree with that. I have 50 rummynose ready to do though. You think they'd eat them?

I bought 100 cardinal tetras as tank mates with my sveni before. and overnight they ate almost all my cardinals. Pretty sure the runmynose will be snacks. But u can test it out with a small group. It may or may not workout unless u try. Just telling u my experience.

I think Buenos Aires, Emperor, Black Skirt and other larger tetras would be good.

Yeah. I agree that'd be there fate based on what you said. I haven't measured them but a few I'd guess are in the 8 inch range.

My friend has Candy Cane and bleeding heart tetras with hers. She has a few other cichlids, a couple of satanoperca species and a lone Bolivian ram.

Being a biotope advocate I would base my choices on fish that come from the same riverine area, Rio Tocantins.
Large enough species might be many of the Anostomids, of larger tetras from that river like Exodons.
But there are so many o choose from.
Although the video below is in Portuguese, species names are shown, and I consider the natural footage interesting.

He would probably need a larger tank since Discus get as large as the geos themselves, but it is a good combo.
