So i have a 180 that i want to eventually put a stingray in. It is going to be a predatory FOWLR tank and i am having some trouble finding just what kind of ray to get. I want to get the California ray but i need to keep the temp around 78. All signs are pointing to getting a Blue spot ray. I know it is advised against keeping blue spots. Is it just because the are hard to get to feed initially? Also i heard that porcupine puffers and stingrays dont get along. Has anyone had any trouble with that in the past?

I am taking it slow and trying to get all of my ducks in a row before i make the final purchase. If anyone has any good advice for me on keeping stingrays please feel free to reply. Thanks for all the help

Puffer are a no with Rays, they will pick at them for sure. 78 degrees is to warm for Cal. rounds , I keep mine at no more than 72 in the summer and right now its at 68 and that is how they seem more happy. I dont know personally about the Blue Spots other than what I have read but they are a chance to take

A ray in a predatory fowlr will become the victim. Through my own experiences Ive come to the conclusion that sharks and rays are best kept by themselves. That way you don't worry about aggression and also medication issues. If you wanted to use copper to treat fish disease, like ich, you couldn't with the ray in the tank ( or the rock)

Oh yea one more thing, find the post ODD SW Ray behavior to see what I went through with my late blue spotted ribbontail. Leave that species alone, perhaps Cortez would be your best bet, but a 180 is on the small side I guess

i have a Sea of Cortez and my Green Spotted Puffer doesn't pay any attention to it. it prolly has more to do with individual puffers, the dogface puffers tend to be the problematic ones though.
