Anyone make the switch from a reef/fowlr tank to a freshwater setup? I have a150 cube 3'x3' that I'm thinking of making freshwater k stead of staying salt

My thoughts would be slightly less maintenance, but I don't k ow if that's an accurate thought so figured I'd lost and hopefully get some feedback- discussion

Definitely easier maintenance....more forgiving and equally beautiful fish....with added bonus of potential offspring.
The only real significant difference is in the filtration minus the skimmer. FOWLR tanks use bio filtration but it is in the rock...freshwater uses media for the majority of the bio filtration needs. Lighting is less complicated too...no real need for actinic light.
A 3x3 footprint will limit the kinds of fish you can put in it and depending on depth, oxygenation will be a factor as well.....you will need plenty of circulation.
The different fish needs are as diverse as in saltsaltwater fish and depending on species, freshwater fish are a bit easier to acquire.
I say go for it. You have pretty much everything you need to get started....if decor is to remain the same, a good rinse is in order. Same goes with the filter system...with some additions.

I'd definitely rinse the rock I have, pumps ect

I haven't kept a fw tank since I was a teenager, and that had a simple hob filter. The tank uses a sump now, how can I use this for fw setup? What media you suggest?
