I'm looking for some terrestrial to semi-aquatic plants to put in the dirt in the swamp I'm building.

The substrate would be a mix of aquatic plant substrate (several varieties) with some mosses. The PH will be in the 6.5-6.8 range. The water-line goes up to about 2 inches below the main land area. The atmospheric temperature will range from 82-90 (higher if it's near the heat bulb) and the lighting is extremely good, with a combination of naturally occurring southern exposure window light and a LOT of aquatic plant and turtle lighting. Should be fairly humid in the tank, but with good air flow.

I've got about 2 feet of height above the land area to work with, and can potentially drill holes in my canopy to let plants pop out the top.

Thinking about ferns and/or bromeliads, but they must be non-toxic to turtles in case my buddy decides to take a bite.

Looking for viney or flowering things, and just cool or unusual looking plants in general.

As always, thanks for your advice and expertise.

Alot of carnivorous plants such as pitcher plant and venus traps like wet feet and humididty, you could also do dwarf papyrus, dwarf alocasias(such as alocasia polly), pothos, peace lillies, umbrella palm, marsh marigold, lobelia, or lustrife (check local regs) just off top of my head

I like the dwarf papyrus idea - I have a rare plant business, so I know quite a bit about this kind of thing. If you like papyrus, then go with Cyperus haspans, not C. alternifolius. The C. alternifolius is the one that is called Dwarf Papyrus, and it's basically a 4 foot dwarf version of the giant Papyrus. The C. haspans is a true dwarf, staying smaller. Calla Lilies are beautiful, and have very nice flowers - but choose the variety wisely - some get huge, while most of them stay about 1 1/2 feet.
For a viny-type plant, there are many types of Pothos / Philodendron types.
Personally, my focus is not so much on these types of plants, but if you feel like a little sleuthing, check out DENDROBOARD.COM. This is a dart-frog based website, and there is a whole section on appropriate plants for terrariums, which would be perfect for your swamp, EXCEPT for the Begonias and Peperomias, which I disagree with. Feel free to email any questions!
