My oldest daughter turned 16 yesterday. She didn't want a party, she just wanted to go out to dinner with the family and hang out with one of her bff.
Besides a new cell phone, I know a shocker, she's asked for a betta for her room. Of course, I was more than happy to oblige.
I got a 1.5gal that came with an internal filter and led. While the tank was getting to temp, we went to grab her a new phone case and her betta. She'd picked a beautiful red and blue half moon.
She and her bff has dubbed the new pet, "Sushi". I'd checked up on Sushi this morning, and he looks like he's doing very well. Came right to the front of the tank as I'd approached it.
She's very happy with her gifts!1124190844.jpg1124190844a.jpg

Nice. Can’t go wrong with a betta to start the hobby maybe!

I don't think she'll ever be at the level I'm at, but it's nice she's taken somewhat of an interest.
She always shows off my 22" GG, "Snowflake", when she brings friends over. She tells her friends that Snowflake is giving her kisses, when it aggressively mouths the glass in an attempt to demand food.

You've started something now. For her 17th she'll probably want a 300g predator tank!
That wouldn't be out of the question ?

Besides, we already have Snowflake. He may not be a predator, but he can be a mean ba$tard. Just ask some of his dead tankmates.

Consider yourself very fortunate to have the parental support and finance to fulfill your interests.

Lmao nahh, the support I did get was to bring my aquarium home, I had to find a person with a bargain for 120 gallon for months of grinding, I sold my expensive watch to afford the aquarium, which I had bought myself, and then I had to clean, repaint, and put together everything. And same the plumbing with hoses was such a pain, going to hardware stores and tryna find the right one. Had to pay for public transport, spending entier days after school cleaning salt creep off the tank as it was all over the tank since it was a saltwater tank. My parents would often ban me from working on it cause I spent all my time working on it in our balcony and during tech class I would spend all my time researching all the different diverse species of South American fish’s I could keep together thinking what I mite put in it one day. I payed for all the expenses and the bus fare. The food and chemicals, the fish and all. I did I fish cycling cause I was impatient and ended up losing $40 worth of fish witch was devastating. luckly I got $5 every week and I would just never go out to eat and save my money, every $5 was another fish in my tank. After the tank cycled in December I bought some corys, which I then sold and made a nice profit. And so I started buying and selling fish’s that I didn’t wanna keep permenen. It worked best when I bought rarity’s from an importer and sold em locally. And I did this on a small scale, wasn’t try Na run a buisness just tryna pay for my tanks expenses. And throw that time I’ve had L141 plecos, Discrossus Maculatas, Apistogramma Agassizii Rio nannay, Apistogramma Panduro Wild, Apistogramma Inca Wild, Uara sp.Orange, Red head tapajos, Corydora adolfoi wild, Corydora orange laser, Green dwarf pike, Vampier shrimp, L124, elusive Peru long arm shrimp, keyhole cichlids, panda uaru, wild green discus rio nannay, and even flame back bleeding heart tetras. I would never though I would be able to have PANDA UARU a year later but yet here they are. :) Tho family support is very nice and all, you can still make due. And trust me my family don’t rly like pets all that much.
