Im starting to use swim baits for LMB and Smb. I was wondering if any one does it on this site. You need a heave pole that can handle 1-6oz lure and lb test goes from 20-50. Im going to be getting a musky pole that is rated from 1-4oz lure and ill be putting 20lb test on it with maybe a 1-2foot leader of 40.

Here are a few swimbaits. They do cost alot of money but you get some MONSTER bass.

I use them for LMB, they are great. I use an Ugly Stik and 40lb spiderwire. I don't even set the drag. Horse them in! Where's the sport in it you might say? No bass is swimming around with my hook in it's mouth!

Thats what I say to. I dont want to to "sport" fish with like 6lb test. I was to use like 18 to make shure I get the fish in.

Wurm what kinda a swimbaits are you throwing?

I am using Storm 2". I also have a Monster 6 incher, but haven't caught anything on that yet. I can cast it half a mile though. LOL

I just bought a monster jack 7inch can't wait to get it. But people said they crack? And Im going no where with the where there are pike. Im not lossing a 40$ bait.

I am a firm believer in the lure catches the angler before it catches the fish I have hundreds of the things. Yet I have just a few I would trust 100% I go on holiday and buy them I go in shops see them and think o go on then I have just remembered I have 2 in the glove box in my works van I bought before Christmas. I also have some still in there boxes from a year ago. The best ones are the rubber ones the orange rubber one that looks nothing like a fish is smashed to bit because its caught a lot of pike as for jerk baits perch patterns work well in the UK and these too are cool.

my favorite swimbait site would have to be calfishing.com
my favorite fish keeping site is monsterfishkeepers.com.. lol, had to throw that in

my favorite swimbaits are 8 inch huddleston, 8 inch spro bbz1, and 6-7.5 inch megabait LA sliders. i would like to add a rago tool or baby tool to the collection but they are expensive.

not a lot of huge largemouth where i fish, just some striper. (lake mead and lake mohave)

i've already nailed a 17 pounder this month on the bbz1, last month was a 10 and a 12 on the huddleston. plus the numerous 3-5 pounders.

my tackle consists of an abu garcia 6501c3 with 30 lb trilene big game and a 25 lb 6 foot long flourocarbon leader, mated to a cheapo shimano ocean rod 6'6" (rated for 20-50 lb test). I need to upgrade the rod to a longer one, perhaps an okuma swimbait rod, or one of the musky rods at bassproshops, but the cheapo rod will do for now.

swimbait fishing is fun.
