so I have an acara that suffered some bullying one night. now it seems he has a swim bladder issue and cant maintain a horizontal position. he's well fed and thick girth so when I put him in my sump I figure he could heal up without having to try to be feed down there. the water is low enough that he maintains his balance. he was looking good after 3 days in the sump so I put him back in the main tank. he started again not being able to balance. I haven't had any luck when fish cant maintain their horizontal position. should I continue to hold out hope or is this a fatal wound?

I know all the main questions so here goes,
240g main tank, all the cichlids (qty 5) are 6" or smaller the acara being the biggest at about 6" , the bichirs 4 of them are 2 at 10" and 2 around 6-8", water change 60-75% every 4-6 days once I see any nitrates, api test kit, only stress from fish interaction is the tilapia buttikoferi that now has been removed.

Maybe gotta keep it in the sump since it’s doing better. Could try kanamycin/prazipro and Epsom salt (1tbsp per 5g) if nonmefs tried. If still not better then leave in the sump.

Had a kelberi that got hit and was struggling to swim up, so was at a constant 45 degree angle near the substrate. Put in QT , with an airstone and heater, plus epsom salt, kanaplex, and methylene blue for 1 week. I didn't feed it during that time. On the second week in QT, it was back to smashing pellets.

if I don't see any improvement by the end of the weekend I will put it in my hospital tank. I will try epsom salt, kanaplex, and methylene blue and see what happens.
